Six weeks into the self-isolation stage of Covid-19 and counting.
When the Chartered Society Of Physiotherapy, our Governing Body, sent out an email advising us that "remote consultations including video consultations (e.g. Skype, FaceTime, WhatsApp, or other commercial products), telephone consultation, email or mobile messaging" consultations was the best way to proceed due to the Global Covid-19 crisis, it really worried me. How could I be of most benefit to my patients? How could I make this viable for my business? Will my business survive?
I've been so surprised. The uptake of patients wishing to have consultations this way has been really encouraging with many saying "I just always found it difficult finding the time to really justify a round trip commute of around an hour for a 30-45 minute appointment".
As time has gone on, patient niggles and old injuries have started to rear their heads again and the phone and video consultations have been steady. Many have been new appointments where patients have picked up injuries where they've become a little too 'comfortable' working from home. Posture.
